CALEX Ambulance is an authorized American Heart Association Training Center. We offer quarterly CPR and First Aid classes, as well as custom classes for BLS/Health Care Providers. All community classes are offered at our St. Johnsbury, Vermont station. We also come to you!* You may request a custom class for your organization, group or business by e-mailing our Training Center Manager. There is no additional charge for us to come to you within a 30 mile radius of our St. Johnsbury headquarters; beyond that, we request a travel fee. *Please note, for off-site classes, we prefer your class size be a minimum of ten students whenever possible.
The courses we offer include:
Heartsaver® CPR AED. This course is designed for the lay rescuer, and covers CPR for adults, children, and infants. This course is perfect for anyone who would like to know what to do for a sudden cardiac arrest, whether it happens at work or at home. You will practice on high quality manikins and with a training AED. Choking emergencies are also covered. Card* good for 2 years; class costs $45. We accept checks or cash; sorry, no credit cards. *Note we are now issuing "e-cards" which come to you via e-mail; please make sure you enter a valid e-mail address!
Heartsaver® CPR AED ONLINE OPTION. This "blended" learning option for lay rescuers combines on-line training and in-person verification of your skills. Students complete an on-line course from AHA available here (cost is currently $15) and then contact our CPR Manager to schedule a skills practice & verification session (cost is $20.) Once you have completed BOTH portions, you will receive an AHA card*, good for 2 years. This is the same course content you would receive at one of our monthly training sessions; the difference is that you do the majority of the training in the privacy of your own home, at your own pace, and then demonstrate your skills to one of our instructors using a manikin and a training AED. *Note we are now issuing "e-cards" which come to you via e-mail; please make sure you enter a valid e-mail address!
Heartsaver® First Aid. This course is designed for the lay rescuer and covers a wide range of emergencies, from allergic reactions to trauma. This may be combined for a custom all-day training event with Heartsaver® CPR. Card* good for 2 years; class costs $45. We accept checks or cash; sorry, no credit cards. *Note we are now issuing "e-cards" which come to you via e-mail; please make sure you enter a valid e-mail address!
Heartsaver® First Aid ONLINE OPTION. This "blended" learning option for lay rescuers combines on-line training and in-person verification of key skills you have learned. Students complete an on-line course from AHA available here (cost is currently $20) and then schedule a skills verification session (cost is $20). Contact our CPR Manager to schedule a private skills practice & verification session. Once you have completed BOTH portions, you will receive an AHA card*, good for 2 years. *Note we are now issuing "e-cards" which come to you via e-mail; please make sure you enter a valid e-mail address!
Heartsaver® First Aid CPR AED ONLINE OPTION. For the layperson who wants training in both First Aid AND CPR, this option may be your best value. Students complete an on-line course from AHA available here (cost is currently $30), and then schedule a skills verification session with one of our instructors (cost is currently $20). This approach makes the combined First Aid and CPR certification cost $50, rather than doing the courses separately, which would cost $75. Contact our CPR Manager to schedule a private skills practice & verification session. Once you have completed BOTH portions, you will receive an AHA card*, good for 2 years. *Note we are now issuing "e-cards" which come to you via e-mail; please make sure you enter a valid e-mail address!

THIS COURSE IS NOT TAUGHT IN OUR MONTHLY COMMUNITY CLASS SETTINGS AND MUST BE ARRANGED WITH OUR TRAINING CENTER MANAGER. HEALTH CARE PROVIDERS WHO ATTEND A MONTHLY 'COMMUNITY' CLASS MAY NOT RECEIVE THE CERTIFICATION THAT IS REQUIRED BY THEIR WORKPLACE. This class costs $45 and is good for 2 years. Note we are now issuing "e-cards" which come to you via e-mail; please make sure you enter a valid e-mail address!
Heartcode® BLS ONLINE OPTION. This course is for health care providers who wish to complete the cognitive portion of the course on-line, and then be certified in their CPR skills by one of our instructors. If your time is limited, this course is for you! You pay a fee to AHA ($28.50) for the on-line course, complete it and print your certificate, and make an appointment with us to have your skills verified on manikins. Skills verification costs $25 (you will pay AHA directly for their on-line course.) Note we are now issuing "e-cards" which come to you via e-mail; please make sure you enter a valid e-mail address!

This course may be taken on-line individually, or we can come to your workplace and teach it in one group setting. Contact us for custom courses tailored to your workplace environment.
